Early music scholar, medievalist and musician. Director of the early music ensembles Labyrinthus, Universalia in Re and Medievallica. Artistic Director of the Moscow International Medieval Music Festival ‘Musica Mensurata’ (2014–2021) and the ‘Tollite portas’ International Early Music Festival (Kotor, Montenegro, from 2024). He is the author of The Consolation of Medieval Music: A Guide for the Modern Listener (Утешение средневековой музыкой. Путеводитель для современного слушателя in Russian, 2025) and A Musical History of Medieval Europe (Музыкальная история средневековой Европы in Russian, 2019), as well as numerous articles, lectures and podcasts on medieval musical culture. He is also the founder and author of the ‘Musica Mensurata’ Telegram channel and its corresponding VK community.

Danil Ryabchikov studied on workshops of B. Bagby, D. Vellard, M. Lewon, A. Broegg, P. Hamon and others, participated in common projects with N. Rodenkirchen (“Sequentia”, “Dialogos”), M. Lewon (“Ensemble Leones”), S. Lutzenberger (“Per-sonat”, “Huelgas Ensemble”), B. Romain (“La Miroir de Musique”, “Ensemble Leones” ), H. Marti (“Sequentia”), Marc Mauillion and others. Ensembles under the direction of Danil Ryabchikov had issued 9 CDs with 12th–14th centuries music on different labels (“Raumkang,” “Sketis music,” etc.).
